Auto Insurance FAQ

Q: Does my insurance cover a rental car? A: This question could mean two different things.
1. Does the coverage on my policy transfer over to a rental car? Yes! You do not need to pay for extra coverage on your rental car if you have current insurance.
2. Does my policy pay for my rental car? There is an optional coverage on your auto policy that will help pay for a rental car if you get in an accident. This coverage only pays for a rental car in the event of an accident. If you need a rental car for a vacation, though, your insurance won't provide you with one.
Q: If I locked my keys in my car can my insurance help me?
A: Farmers® offers a towing and roadside service coverage on our auto policies for about $4.50 every 6 months. If you have this coverage, Farmers will absolutely help with this! We can help you get a tow, jump, change a tire, repair a flat, and even help you if you lock your keys in your car! If you aren't sure if you have this service, call us!
Q: I get too many things from Farmers in the mail. How do I stop this?
A: Enroll in online billing through "e-policy". You can do this online at www.Farmers.com, or we can help you with it in the office! Q: Do I need to add my teenage driver to my policy? A: If you teenager just has a permit, no. If they have a license, yes. We just need their name, date of birth, and driver's license number to add them. Q: What are some things I can do to make my policy cheaper?
A: Farmers offers a lot of discounts to choose from. Come in to see if you are eligible for any of them. We have occupational discounts, multi-policy discounts, good student discounts, good driving discounts, discounts for different payment methods and discounts for getting bills sent to your e-mail instead of your home address.
Q: How much insurance do I need?
A: In Utah automobile liability insurance is mandatory. The state minimum for liability insurance is what we call 25/65. This means that if you get in an accident and you are found at fault, the insurance company will pay out $25,000 per injured person with a total payout of $65,000 per accident for injuries. This is the bare minimum coverage you need to legally drive in Utah. We recommend higher liability rates, though. If you get in a serious accident and you only have minimum liability limits you could potentially have to pay tens or even hundreds of thousands of dollars out of pocket. Our liability limits go all the way up to 500/500 or $500,000 per injured person with a maximum payout of $500,000 per accident. If you are curious about what you have or what other options might cost, let us know! If you have a loan on your vehicle you are also required to carry full coverage which protects your vehicle.
Q: What exactly is "full coverage?"
A: Liability insurance only protects other people and vehicles in the event of an accident. Full coverage protects your vehicle. If you get in an accident where you were at fault, your full coverage will kick in. There are two parts of full coverage, comprehensive (or other than collision), and collision. Comprehensive coverage is for damage incurred from weather, fire, and collision with moving objects like an animal. Collision covers collision with a stationary object. For full coverage you have a deductible. Farmers offers deductibles as low as $100 and as high as $2500. If you have a collision claim and you have a $500 deductible, the insurance will cover all of the damage to your car except $500 which you will be responsible for. We hope this helps! If you have more questions or need clarification, give us a call!

- April 1, 2018Rating 5.0Kyle has been great to work with. We have shopped around, and have obtained quotes from him in the past, and he has always been happy to answer any questions or provide a quote even if we ended up not going with Farmers. When we decided to make the switch to Farmers, one factor was that we wanted Kyle to be our agent. I feel like he wants to truly help us, and not just sell us insurance.
- March 23, 2018Rating 5.0Thanks Kyle. Great experience. I appreciate your honesty and integrity and the interest you showed on our first meeting.
Thanks again.
