"It's not what we do once in a while that shapes our lives. It's what we do consistently." - Tony Robins
Have you ever had someone ask you "hey how's business?" to which you reply without hesitation, "busy", as if that is some kind of affirmation that everything is awesome? Yeah, me too.
We live in an age and culture where we expect immediate results the exact way we expect them to be immediately. When we visit a Starbucks we expect to be greeted a certain way, proceed down the line a certain way, and have our names called out when the magical nectar is ready. Maybe you work with a certain financial institution because they call you by name and greet you with the consistent smile you have come to expect.
I absolutely love it when we receive a customer service survey response that says, " JP and his team are always there for us ". We have systems in place for follow through, but more importantly we have built a team of people who possess the unteachable trait of genuinely caring for the well-being of others. These people and these systems are what make us consistent in taking care of those we work with.
Proverbs 21:5 tells us "The plans of the diligent lead surely to plenty, but those of everyone who is hasty, surely to poverty".
In today's culture it's not enough to simply bounce around like a pin ball as if you deserve a gold star for simply being incredibly "busy". Those who are consistently and intentionally striving to be better, and more importantly to be a more positive influence in the lives of those they are privileged to serve will almost always find more fulfillment as they fulfill the needs of others.
Are you just busy, or are you consistently working towards being better?
Are there businesses you work with because of their consistency?
Are there people in your life who need more consistency from you?
