Farmers Insurance Agent in Broomall, PA

About Me

Rating 5.0

My name is Mark W. Hogan and I am your local Farmers® agent in Broomall, PA. Born in Winchester Massachusetts, I grew up in Torrance California, where I met my wife Moira playing opposite leads in a stage production of Cat on the Hot Tin Roof at Marymount College Palos Verdes in 1980. We were married in 1985 after graduating from Loyola Marymount Los Angeles, and started a family in the San Fernando Valley.
After five moves we ended up in Pennsylvania, the birthplace of my maternal Grandmother. I promised my family we would stay in Pennsylvania until all three of my children graduated high school. Today, my eldest son is a graduate of Temple University, my middle child a Guilford College alumni, and my youngest a graduate of the University of the Arts in Philadelphia. Along the way, studying nights and weekends, I achieved a Masters Degree in Business Administration from Widener University.
Pennsylvania has been good to my family. I have been a resident of Delaware County since 1998 and I would like to be a resource to the community. With my education, experience, and Farmers® training, I help customers like you identify the insurance coverage that best fits your needs. This process is straightforward and personalized to help make you smarter about insurance. I have the knowledge and experience to help you better understand your coverage options, whether that's auto, home, renters, business insurance; or more.
The solution to your insurance and investment needs is my commitment. I take my clients concerns seriously without sacrificing a sense of humor or inappropriately pressuring them into an ill-fitting program. I have personally experienced much of the good and bad life presents us and as such I am sympathetic to my client’s fears, situations, and desires.

Give me a call at (610) 674-6856 and I'll be happy to answer any questions you might have.

Did you know that 123456 was still the most popular password for both 2016 and 2017? With the almost daily notifications of the latest cyberfraud attempt (or success), it’s time to take another look at the most basic building block of cybersecurity – your password.

A good password is 8 – 15 characters long. A brute force attack can break a 10 letter password in one week, but it’s estimated that a 15 character password would take over a century to crack. Below are eight rules that can help you create a strong password that will keep hacker’s from accessing your information.

1. No real words, names or places in any language
“mymomma1”, “eaglesrock”, “lovetttx24” (seems easy to remember, right?)

2. Mix it up with letters, numbers, symbols and capitalization
“mYm0mm@1”, “E@gl$R0cK”, “L0^ETtT*24”

3. Use made-up phrases, without complete words, using the first two rules
“My cat Tuxie loves me and her dinner" becomes “mYc@56xE1V$me&F0Od”

4. Use a separate password for each account (there’s an app for tracking that)

5. Change your password regularly
Annoying, but vital to fend off those cybercriminals

6. Use 2-factor authentication (ask your tech support)

7. Password protect not only your computer, but your mobile devices. An estimated 600,000 hackers log into FaceBook each day costing users an estimated $1,000,000,000 (yes, that’s a billion) annually.

8. Stop using your social media accounts to log into apps and websites. The Federal Trade Commission (“FTC”) recently blogged that using your social media account to log into apps and websites ends up exposing you to cyberattacks, phishing and spam. The FTC also posted instructions on how to purge your permissions list – do you really need all those apps with access to your information? (https://www.consumer.ftc.gov/blog/2017/12/get-rid-unwanted-apps)

Farmers® agents provide this service in person or online to help you review your existing coverage, so you can decide how to keep up with your changing insurance needs.

- As your life changes, maybe your policy should too

Changes in your life can add up to changes in insurance needs. A change in marital status, the birth of a child or the purchase of a new home are just a few examples of life events that may create overlaps or gaps in your coverage.

- Review your coverage and possibly save money

Just as you continue to change and grow, Farmers® has been growing for over 85 years. A Farmers® customer can be the first to enjoy access to new benefits (like when we became the first insurance group to offer a discount for alternative-fuel vehicles). Talk to us about a Farmers Friendly Review® - we can provide you with insurance options and discuss any available discounts for which you may qualify so you can select the coverage that best fits your needs.

- How often should you have a Farmers Friendly Review® session?

We recommend a Farmers Friendly Review® at least once a year or whenever you have a qualifying life event change. If you like, I can even set a reminder for us to keep an annual appointment to discuss your changing coverage needs.

Give us a call to set up your Farmers Friendly Review®.

Signal℠ by Farmers® helps tackle the problem of distracted driving. It gives you and your family insight into your driving patterns, providing a clearer picture of how you get distracted so you can make improvements and learn how to drive more safely. And, simply by using the Signal app, you could earn a discount on your insurance.
