What is the difference? Reconstruction value is calculated based on the cost of rebuilding your home in the instance of peril, such as a fire. Market value will refer to the current cost that your home would fetch in the marketplace. The market value of a home would almost certainly include the cost of the land and foundation, not just the home itself. We write our home insurance policies based on reconstruction value.
