I was here when the tornadoes hit Iowa City in 2006, when water rushed over the spillway in the 2008 flood, and when the derecho hit in 2020. Each time, we spent weeks putting our communities back together. I lived in Iowa City through these devastating times, offering a helping hand to the families and businesses in our area as they were left to pick up the pieces. After graduating from West High School, I went to college and returned to Iowa City after graduating, knowing that Iowa City was where I wanted to start my family. My future wife, Mary, was also born and raised in Iowa City, and together, we have over 50 years of experience living in the Iowa City area and are both actively involved in our community.
