There are some potential advantages working with a local agency as you have a face to face point of contact to discuss any problems that should arise. I was not happy when having paid for my home policy the mortgage company was billed by Farmers (and paid it again), but can’t tell whether the problem was with the agent, Farmers or the mortgage company. But I don’t see what I got by going to an agent; the interaction with the staffer who was my only contact was not significantly different than what I experienced dealing with my previous carrier’s call center.
