About Rachel Oster-Payne
I have been with Farmers® Insurance since 1994. My father was an agent who encouraged me to get my insurance license so that one day I could take over his agency when he retired. I came from a background of aerospace engineering (B.S Engineering, the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor) where I had spent time working for a defense contractor in San Jose on supersonic ramjets. I then obtained a teaching credential and taught everything from elementary school and middle school math, to working in special education with profoundly disabled students. I eventually decided to try my hand at insurance and worked alongside my dad for five years. I built up my agency and when my father retired in 2001, I added his agency to mine. I learned a lot by watching my dad. Both his successes and failures taught me what to do and not to do in business. The best part of this job is helping my clients when they need the knowledge and support of their agent.
