A world where everyone had a decent place to live

WHAT WE DO
Habitat for Humanity Fresno County does not build houses FOR families; we facilitate a partnership among families who demonstrate need, the ability to pay the mortgage, and a willingness to partner in the construction of their home. This partnership also engages community supporters who join the families in the home building process and provide both financial and in-kind support for building supplies and materials.

Homeowners invest hundreds of hours of their own labor, or “sweat equity,” into building their Habitat house and they pay back a no-profit, no-interest mortgage.

Since 1985 Habitat Fresno has built or revitalized over 150 homes. Located in the heart of the heart of the nation, in the San Joaquin Valley, Habitat for Humanity Fresno's success not only impacts local residents but has an impact on the Nation.

Reading Heart

The Story

Reading Heart is a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) book donation program dedicated to serving children in hospitals and children in areas with limited access to books. Danay started Reading Heart at the age of eight because she wanted to share her passion for reading and the joy of escaping in a good book with other children. An avid book reader and advocate for education, Danay wants to spread the joy of reading and improve literacy not only in our community but also across the country.

"I was actually thinking about people who were less fortunate and people in hospitals because they get bored," says Danay. "Our donations can help kids in hospitals and the less fortunate."

They are currently working on giving a free book to every child in the Fresno Unified School District! That's upwards of 75,000 children!!! Let us know if you have books to donate. The Agency will always be collecting.

Their Home is filled with more than help, it’s filled with hope.

Many families travel far from home and spend several weeks or months to get treatment for their seriously ill or injured children – a long time to be away or to divide a family. And, for children facing a serious medical crisis, nothing seems scarier than not having mom and dad close by for love and support.

Located adjacent to Valley Children’s Hospital, our 22,000 sq. ft. House is a refuge for families with children receiving treatment.

Each night 18 families call our House, their Home. Our House was built with the simple idea that nothing else should matter when a family is focused on the health of their child-not where they can afford to stay, where they will get their next meal or where they will lay their head at night to rest. We believe that when a child is hospitalized the love and support of family is as powerful as the strongest medicine prescribed.

At our House, families can enjoy:

18 bedrooms with a private bathroom
3 wings equipped with a laundry room, kitchen and dining area
Fully stocked pantry and private refrigerators for each room
Home-cooked meals
Playroom for siblings
Large communal living area with small reading room
Computer lab
Outdoor dining and play area

Farmers® agents provide this service in person or online to help you review your existing coverage, so you can decide how to keep up with your changing insurance needs.

- As your life changes, maybe your policy should too

Changes in your life can add up to changes in insurance needs. A change in marital status, the birth of a child or the purchase of a new home are just a few examples of life events that may create overlaps or gaps in your coverage.

- Review your coverage and possibly save money

Just as you continue to change and grow, Farmers® has been growing for over 85 years. A Farmers® customer can be the first to enjoy access to new benefits (like when we became the first insurance group to offer a discount for alternative-fuel vehicles). Talk to us about a Farmers Friendly Review® - we can provide you with insurance options and discuss any available discounts for which you may qualify so you can select the coverage that best fits your needs.

- How often should you have a Farmers Friendly Review® session?

We recommend a Farmers Friendly Review® at least once a year or whenever you have a qualifying life event change. If you like, I can even set a reminder for us to keep an annual appointment to discuss your changing coverage needs.

Give us a call to set up your Farmers Friendly Review®.

Now available in California! You can’t always be there to help them focus on their driving. That’s why Farmers® introduced the Signal® app to customers, that will help encourage drivers to practice safer driving habits.
To learn more about the Signal® app, give me a call, or visit farmers.com/signal.
